Safeguarding
At Seymour Park Community Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.
We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff receive regular, half termly training and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).
The Designated Safeguarding Leads at Seymour Park are Mrs. Tomlinson and Mrs. Dickinson. The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mr Johnson. Mrs Friar, Mrs Ainscough and Mrs Codling have also received Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
At Seymour Park, our Safeguarding team are dedicated to keeping all our children and families safe. The team comprises of :
Mrs Dickinson and Mrs Tomlinson - Safeguarding Leads
Mrs Friar - SENDCO
Miss Shuttleworth - Mental Health Lead and Learning Mentor
Miss Harris - Learning Mentor
Donna Green - Social are in Partnership Worker ( see information about Donna's role below)
Caroline Ainsworth - Mental Health Practitioner
At Seymour Park Community Primary School we believe it is important to make children and young people aware that unacceptable behaviour towards them will not be tolerated. Our PSHE curriculum supports children to be able to recognise when their safety becomes compromised and to know what they can do about it.
In school, we are proactive at raising pupil awareness of how they can stay safe through organised events such as Anti Bullying week and On-line safety training.
We are a Rights Respecting School and have a pupil elected Pupil Parliament to ensure that pupil voice is sought, heard, and acted upon.

Encompass
Our school is part of a project, which is run between Trafford Local Authority, schools and Greater Manchester Police. The project called Operation Encompass, has been designed to provide early reporting of any domestic abuse incidents that occur outside school, which might have an impact on a child in school. This is communicated through a secure email to school following an incident.
The project ensures that at least one member of the school staff, known as the Key Adult, is available to liaise with children’s services and the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence.
In this way, we aim to support each child who has been involved in, or witnessed, a domestic abuse incident.
The Key Adults for Seymour Park Community Primary School are
Mrs J Dickinson and Mrs T Tomlinson, the Heads of School.
If they receive an Encompass notification they will make sure that a person the child trusts is available to help – if the child needs this. Most of the time this support is silent; keeping a careful eye on him or her and making sure the child has a calm school day. The confidential information is ordinarily not shared with all staff, just an agreement on how to help, if needed.
All schools have a duty to share any information with other organisations if they feel a child is at risk of being hurt. The Key Adult may contact other organisations.
The sharing of information from the police allows the school to be ready to help your child straight away, and it means that parents are aware that the Key Adult knows that something has happened. Parents can come and talk to our Key Adult. The Key Adult can point you towards other people that can help.
Our aim is to support children and their families.
At Seymour Park Community Primary School, we are extremely lucky to have non-teaching staff to support children and families in many different ways. Miss Shuttleworth and Miss Harris are our school Learning Mentors and they work directly with children on a variety of emotional and behavioural intervetions. Donna Green is our school-based social care worker and is at school every Wednesday; she is based in the school's community room. Donna works closely with families who may need additional support. More details of how Donna can support families can be found on the leaflet below and on our Parent page.
County Lines
As part of our safeguarding work and personal development programme, our Y6 children participate in a child criminal exploitation workshop called 'Breaking Barriers'. This workshop explores this important issues for our young people. It helps give them the tools necessary to keep themselves safe.
